An evening of Holocaust education with the descendant of Holocaust Survivors. Presentation begins at 7pm.
About this Event

Marlene Warshawski Yahalom, PhD, will join us this evening to share the story of the Holocaust as experienced by her family. Marlene is the daughter and granddaughter of six Holocaust Survivors and has spent her career promoting Holocaust awareness and educating students, educators, and communities.

Marlene Warshawski Yahalom earned her PhD in Sociology from Columbia University, with a thesis titled “The Role of Archives in Remembering the Holocaust: A Study in Collective Memory.” She has also taught courses on Collective Memory and the Holocaust, and Holocaust Law, and Human Rights. She is a respected nonprofit leader with over twenty years of experience in educational programming and national initiative development. She served as Director of Education at the American Society for Yad Vashem throughout the organization’s lifecycle, staying in her role through its final phase, which ended operations in 2024.

She developed and implemented curricula, workshops, and resources for educators, students, and community groups, and oversaw outreach and partnerships with schools, museums, and Jewish organizations to promote Holocaust awareness. Dr. Yahalom also supervised educational professionals and guided strategy, programming, and content development throughout her work. She is the daughter and granddaughter of six Holocaust survivors.
