Capital Jazz Society Presents: Matea Jerkovic Trio

Matea Jerkovic is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and educator based in Omaha, Nebraska. A recent graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Jazz Studies program, Matea has already distinguished herself as a rising talent in the Midwest jazz scene. In 2025, she was named the winner of the North American Saxophone Alliance Region 3 Jazz Competition and Outstanding Soloist at the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival. She has performed internationally in Uruguay and studied abroad at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music in Riga, Latvia.
Matea performs regularly across the Midwest with her trio/quartet in and as a member of multiple entertainment companies. She recently made her debut in St. Louis, Missouri, at The Dark Room at The Grandel, performing her original music and arrangements as a bandleader. As an educator, Matea serves as an assistant teaching artist with the Omaha Performing Arts Jazz Academy, where she is dedicated to inspiring and mentoring young musicians.
