The Carol Bean Ensemble returns to the Capital Blues stage with a set drawn from the deep well of blues tradition — Ma Rainey, Elmore James, Memphis Minnie, and Jimmy Reed — alongside contemporary voices like Eliza Gilkyson, Debbie Davies, and Angela Strehli. Etta James, a fellow Angeleno, is in the mix too, along with the mighty Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown.Carol’s West Coast roots and encyclopedic command of the genre shape every tune, from steamy slow burners to gritty up‑tempo grooves.
