About the film

Can't Stop Change: Queer Climate Stories from the Florida Frontlines is an independent documentary from Queers 4 Climate Justice and co-directed by Vanessa Raditz, Natalia Villarán-Quiñones, Yarrow Koning, Shoog McDaniel, and Jess Martínez. Can't Stop Change weaves interviews with 15 LGBTQ2S+ organizers, artists, and educators across Florida into an intersectional climate justice narrative. The film simultaneously uplifts queer and trans resistance, joy, and dreams for liberation in Florida, the Southeast, and beyond.

Can't Stop Change is not yet rated. It contains brief nudity (non-sexual) and occasional adult language. It also contains hurricane footage and discussions of colonialism, white supremacy, and anti-LGBTQ+ violence that may be distressing to some viewers. The film will be screened with subtitles. About the co-director

Yarrow Koning (they/them) is a queer, trans, and non-binary environmental educator, climate justice organizer, multimedia storyteller, and bookseller based in Decatur, GA. Yarrow holds a Master of Education in Environmental Education from Florida Atlantic University and specializes in education that centers equity, justice, queer ecologies, and multispecies liberation. Alongside their work as a full-time bookseller at Charis Books and More, Yarrow is the Co-Director and Impact Campaign Coordinator for the Queers 4 Climate Justice documentary Can't Stop Change: Queer Climate Stories from the Florida Frontlines. In their free time, Yarrow enjoys hosting queer ecologies outings, workshops, and events, including the monthly Queer Ecologies Book Club at Charis Books and More.

Accessibility

Charis has both stairs and an elongated ramp at the entrance. Accessible parking is to the left of the building. Charis Books is a fully wheelchair accessible space with on site van accessible parking, two ramps, and additional overflow accessible parking nearby. Most of our shelves are on wheels and can be moved to provide additional access. The insides are all level and flat with ramps to access various areas of the space. Our bathrooms are wheelchair accessible and gender neutral with motion activated fixtures. Both bathrooms have wheelchair accessible baby changing tables. Our directional signs are written in braille.
