Join local historian, author and former teacher at Rugeley Fair Oak School and the Aelfgar 6th form centre, Steve Booth for a fascinating presentation about the hidden history of Cannock Chase.
Steve’s talk looks at the secrets of Castle Ring and Beaudesert, the subsequent development of the iron industry and its impact on the developing Industrial Revolution. Steve will explore the impact of the road and canal network and the problems caused by highway robbery. Finally Steve will discuss the impact of the army camps on the Chase, the development of the Tackeroo railway, the experience of the New Zealanders and the POW camp at Brocton Coppice.
