Candidate Listening Forum hosted by Kansas Spanish Speakers

What if a candidate forum started with listening?
Kansas Spanish Speakers invites you to a Candidate Listening Forum on Wednesday, October 7, from 6:30–8:00 p.m. at the Emporia Recreation Center.
This event turns the traditional candidate forum format on its head. Instead of candidates spending most of the evening talking at the community, they will rotate among small-group tables and listen as residents discuss the issues, experiences, concerns, and hopes that matter most to them.
There are no predetermined questions and no assigned table topics. Community members will guide the conversation, while trained Kansas Spanish Speakers facilitators help ensure everyone has an opportunity to participate and that discussions remain respectful and productive.
Candidates will be encouraged to ask thoughtful follow-up questions, but their primary role during the table conversations will be to listen. At the end of the evening, each candidate will be invited to share what they heard from the community.
The forum is nonpartisan, free, and open to everyone. Participants are welcome to speak in English or Spanish, with interpretation available as needed.
Candidates listen. Community leads.
