Cancer?! I Hardly Know Her! is a solo comedy show about surviving cancer—and using it as a metaphor for the toxicity that divides us. Through personal guy stories—a diagnosis that changed everything, meeting a drunk wrestling legend, and navigating a world obsessed with being right—comedian Jamie Campbell discovers that the antidote to living in chaos is connection. Come ready to laugh, think, and find common ground with strangers. In a world designed to keep us divided, maybe the most radical thing we can do is be kind to each other.
ABOUT THE WRITER/PERFORMER:
Based in Kansas City, Jamie Campbell is a nationally touring stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. You may recognize him from appearances on NBC’s Chicago Fire, PopTV’s Hollywood Darlings, or the Emmy-nominated ABC series Boondoggle. Last year, he released a stand-up special through the globally recognized brand Dry Bar Comedy.
Jamie has been a major presence on the Kansas City performing arts scene for nearly a decade. In 2024 The Pitch named him the city’s “Best Stand-up Comedian” in their annual “Best of KC” issue. He is a founding member of The Bird Comedy Theater Players and performs regularly with them when he isn’t on the road. Jamie’s previous solo shows, The Devil On the Wall and Big Dad Energy each took home “Best of Fringe” honors when they premiered at this very festival.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR:
Kristi Hammett has shared a close friendship with Jamie for over 22 years, dating back to their college days in Oklahoma. She has had the joy of watching his career flourish from the very beginning and proudly considers herself his second biggest fan--right after his wife, Jessica, of course.
Kristi began her directing career in Chicago in 2013 and has been passionately pursuing it ever since. Her work spans a wide range of productions, from intimate ten-minute plays to large-scale musicals featuring casts of 90 performers. This production marks her second time directing Jamie and her first time taking on a one-man show.
She is thrilled to be part of this experience and especially excited to collaborate once again with her longtime friend. Kristi currently resides in Sherman, Texas, with her husband, John, and her two bonus sons, Brek and Ridge.
