About this Event
Certain diet patterns seem to have a major effect in helping people diagnosed with cancer to live longer, healthier lives. The National Cancer Institute research shows that as much as 50 percent of cancer risk may be related to diet. Antioxidants which are mainly found in fruits and vegetables are critically important to halt free-radical damage and bolster immunity.
This class will combine 2 PCRM classes, Introduction to How Foods Fight Cancer and Cancer-Fighting Compounds and Immune-Boosting Foods to help you learn about smart choices that can help reduce the risk of developing cancer as well as overcome the disease after it has been diagnosed. We will explore foods that are rich in protective compounds and immune-boosting nutrients such as beta-carotene, lycopene, vitamin C, and zinc. Studies have demonstrated the ability of diets rich in vegetables and fruits to boost immunity. Based on scientific research, those eating a plant-based diet (in this case vegetarians) have approximately double the natural killer cell activity (natural killer cells engulf and destroy cancer cells) compared to non-vegetarians.
Learn how to prepare a colorful, scrumptious, immune-boosting meal. In this class, attendees learn about nutrition while asking questions and enjoying cooking demonstrations, all in a supportive group setting.
Pre-registration is required at least 24 hours in advance.
In-person class size is limited to 6 participants.
Early Bird and Buddy Discounts are available.
