First Assistant Secretary Enterprise Systems, Defence Digital Group
Department of Defence
Nasa Walton was appointed First Assistant Secretary, Enterprise Systems with Defence Digital Group (DDG) on 12 February 2024 and was subsequently appointed as CTO and First Assistant Secretary, Architecture and Strategy in January 2026.
Nasa is accountable for leading and ensuring the Enterprise Systems Portfolio of new solutions, and the enhancements of those systems, are delivered to meet the business needs, on time, and within budget.
As a previous CIO of several state government agencies, including Canberra Health Services, QLD’s Residential Tenancy Authority, and West Moreton Health, Nasa has led digital or change transformations to update legacy systems to new digital capability.
Nasa’s expertise incudes ensuring the digital strategy and road maps are delivered at the right pace for the organisation, and existing service delivery is not impacted by disrupted services, the technology is scalable, fit for purpose and matches the fiscal feasibility for the product life cycle.
Nasa is passionate about technology, but also about mentoring new generations of project managers, and leadership in IT, and actively mentors women within the IT industry.
