The Museum is honoured to welcome broadcasting and fashion icon Jeanne Beker back to an event spotlighting her memoir, Heart On My Sleeve: Stories from a life well worn. Jeanne will share excerpts and photos from her book and expand on some of the fascinating stories it contains. Interviews in bathtubs with rock stars! Canoeing with Kate Moss! And much more!

Copies of the book will be on sale on-site both prior to and after the event. Jeanne will be available to sign books after the conversation and audience Q&A.

About the Author

Jeanne Beker was the host of the hit show Fashion Television, which aired in over 130 countries for twenty-seven years and was one of the most successful shows in Canadian TV history. Prior to that, she hosted the groundbreaking show The NewMusic and was a founding member of MuchMusic. A seasoned newspaper and magazine columnist, Jeanne was editor-in-chief of FQ and SIR magazines from 2003 to 2009. Currently, she is a frequent keynote speaker and style editor for TSC, where she hosts her eponymous show Style Matters. Jeanne has received honorary doctorates from St. Mary’s University and OCAD University. She was named to the Order of Canada in 2013, inducted into the American Marketing Association’s Hall of Legends in 2015, and received a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2016. Jeanne lives in Toronto, Canada.

Canada’s Storytellers is an ongoing series of programs that connects visitors with cultural works, and their creators, to explore themes of immigration, migration, multiculturalism, (in)equality and Canadian identity. Canada’s Storytellers has welcomed renowned authors such as Lawrence Hill, Madeleine Thien, Mark Sakamoto, Blaise Ndala, Kim Thuy; screened films like Kayak to Klemtu, Bagages, I Am Rohingya, and more.

À propos de l’auteure

Jeanne Beker était l’animatrice de l’émission à succès Fashion Television, qui a été diffusée dans plus de 130 pays pendant 27 ans et qui a été l’une des émissions les plus réussies de l’histoire de la télévision canadienne. Avant cela, elle a animé l’émission révolutionnaire The New Music et a été parmi les membres fondateurs de MuchMusic. Chroniqueuse chevronnée dans les journaux et les magazines, Jeanne a été rédactrice en chef des magazines FQ et SIR de 2003 à 2009. Actuellement, elle est souvent conférencière et rédactrice en chef pour TSC, où elle anime son émission éponyme Style Matters.
