Can We Still Be Optimistic About the Future? - Course
At a time when headlines can make optimism feel naïve, Judaism presents a radically different view of the future. The world is not drifting aimlessly. It is moving toward something.
Can We Still Be Optimistic About the Future? is a thought-provoking 5-session journey into the Jewish understanding of Moshiach, redemption, human potential, and the world Judaism believes is still ahead.
Using original Jewish texts and down-to-earth discussion, we’ll explore some of the biggest questions Judaism asks about the future: What exactly is redemption? Is Moshiach an individual, an era, or both? Why is belief in a better world so central to Judaism? Are we meant simply to wait for redemption, or are we responsible for helping bring it closer? And what does all of this mean for the way we live our lives right now?
This is not a course about escaping from the world. It is about understanding what the world is meant to become, learning to see beneath the surface of present-day reality, and discovering why Judaism insists that there is reason for genuine hope.
No prior Jewish knowledge is necessary. Come ready to question, explore, discuss, and perhaps see the future, and the present, a little differently.
5 sessions beginning Sunday, November 8 at 11:00 AM
Jewish Discovery Center | 831 Maple Rd.
Lavish brunch will be served.
