About this Event
Social Sciences Week 2026: In an era of changing assessment practices, oral assessment is attracting renewed interest as a powerful way to evaluate student learning, communication, and disciplinary understanding.
This interactive workshop invites educators from across disciplines to share positive and challenging experiences of oral assessment, explore what should be assessed, and discuss level benchmarks and possible gatekeeper questions.
Participants will collaborate to devise interactive oral assessment task question sets and contribute to the development of a practical, adaptable framework that can support fair, consistent and transparent assessment of oral performance across diverse disciplinary contexts.
This event is designed for educators currently teaching and assessing in higher education. A hybrid attendance option is available.
Registered participants who wish to attend online will receive a Microsoft Teams link prior to the event. Places are limited to 20 in-person participants and 20 online participants to ensure a high level of interaction and discussion.
