Create dynamic visual effects using Houdini, the industry-standard software behind explosions, particles, smoke, and large-scale simulations
About this Event

In this 2-week intensive, you’ll begin working with Houdini, the professional software widely used across the film industry for advanced effects work like, explosions, particles, smoke, and large-scale simulations.

Week 1: Explore the software's interface as well as the foundations of procedural visual effects, learning how artists combine motion, logic, and design to build dynamic systems from the ground up.

Week 2: You’ll apply concepts from week 1 to a particle-based FX shot, shaping simulations with forces and collisions before bringing everything through lighting and rendering workflows used in post-production pipelines.

This course is ideal for students interested in both creative and technical thinking and offers a comprehensive introduction to the world of technical effects.

Topics covered: procedural workflows, attributes and groups, VEX & VOP basics, particles, forces, collisions, caching, lighting, rendering, compositing workflows

Class schedules may be adjusted based on availability and student interest.
