About:
Camping on the ground of this nostalgic summer cottage estate.
Bath in the newly stored bathroom in the yoga studio and art gallery building. Dining room available in the mansion with utensils and dinnerware spring water and tea daily. Buy a take out from the nearby restaurants and enjoy meals with your family at Eastover.
The mansion at Eastover is a relic of the “Gilded Age” that reached its peak in the 1890’s and early 1900’s. By the time New York stockbroker Harris Fahnestock built Eastover in 1910 there were 93 gilded age “cottages” in the Berkshires. Most have disappeared and been destroyed by Berkshire weather. Only a few remain most of which had been turned into private schools or resorts after the Great Depression. Eastover was turned into a resort.
Eastover has been part of elegant celebrations and country style reunions for over 70 years. It has been the site of many wonderful memories for generations. However it had fallen into deep disrepair until its sale in early 2010. The new owners have begun an extensive program of restoration that starts below ground and continues all the way to the highest rooftop.
With this bold new effort will be a continued dedication to preserving both nature and the beauty of the grounds. Your visit will leave you baffled with how such place can exist so close to the cultural center of the Berkshires.
The Terrace Room
Warmed in daylight from the huge south windows the Terrace Room’s 2200 sq ft floor is a stunning setting for mid-sized weddings and events of up to 146 dinner guests in Victorian architectural elegance. Its unique proportions provide a cozy closeness with ample room for a dance floor and visiting. The adjacent kitchen permits superb service in a large banquet environment.
The Terrace Room’s large glass doors open onto a sizable bluestone patio large enough for it’s own party. Under the shade of enormous Catalpa trees the terrace room is a true memory of summer elegance.

About:
Solar Terms is an ancient Chinese calendar that sections 24 seasons within the year. These terms are differentiated by the changing seasons plants and climate and they were created by farmers to better know the agricultural landscape. To this day the solar terms let us understand and adapt to nature’s patterns and rhythm.
We are embracing ecological return in an art exhibition that features ink paintings hanging in the forest over the course of a year. Our organizer will document and track the changes of the artwork according to the solar terms.
Because Eastover Eco-Village is surrounded by hundreds of acres of pristine natural environment and is now a rare habitat where people animals forests and natural water sources coexist it is the perfect place for a dialogue between art and the environment. In a world where we people and art commonly interact we are instead letting art interact with the ecology and environment that we rely on for our survival.
Because of the characteristics of ink wash art the work already consists of natural properties. When these natural properties combine with the environment and the artwork is allowed to breathe this in the ink and paper will respond and take in what it will from nature.
Artwork can be placed in the midst of society’s hubbub or it can choose silence; when a piece of artwork is completed it becomes an independent individual. It has relationships with people or with nature that can form the trajectory of the work’s fate. With this exhibition existing for two months inside the gallery and for a year in the forest we observe both ends of the spectrum.
