The CAMP Rehoboth Book Club is an LGBTQ+ facilitated discussion group dedicated to reading novels about LGBTQ+ topics and/or books by queer authors that tackle a variety of interest and subject matters. We alternate between fiction, non-fiction, YA. This group typically meets on the last Monday of every month starting at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom and in-person. Our Book Club aims to bring all members of the community together in a safe, supportive and inclusive space to enjoy literature, conversation and most of all engage with each other. This group is open to all regardless of sexuality and gender.
The Book Club selection for August is Flamer by Mike Curato
About Flamer
Award-winning author and artist Mike Curato draws on his own experiences in Flamer, his debut graphic novel, telling a difficult story with humor, compassion, and love.
It’s the summer between middle school and high school, and Aiden Navarro is away at camp. Everyone’s going through changes—but for Aiden, the stakes feel higher. As he navigates friendships, deals with bullies, and spends time with Elias (a boy he can’t stop thinking about), he finds himself on a path of self-discovery and acceptance.
