We will be hosting a camp information social, Sunday Jan 11 at our boat landing For Camp Mondamin and Camp Green Cove
I grew up going to sleep away camp myself. It was such a great experience and really helped me grow my confidence and prepare me for college and life after college!
We will be hosting a camp information social at our boat landing - there will be Pizza, Camp video, and a chance to talk to the Directors and other Camp alumni! And Plenty of time for the kids to run around and play! I attended one of these our first year of signing up and it was so helpful to hear from current campers and parents what to expect. We would love to have you come so we can share with you about Camp in general!

Why do we Love Mondamin and Green Cove?
- Tradition -
the camp has been running for over 100 years by the same family
- Location -
Each morning the boys wake up overlooking beautiful Lake Summit - and the camps are located minutes from some of the best areas in all of NC for hiking, Waterfalls, Climbing, and Mountain Biking, Canoe/Kayaking.
- Screen Free -
Having a good chunk of the summer without screens is really good for teaching the kids there are other ways besides video games to have fun
-Its a separate All boys and All girls camp -
The camps work together, but the properties are separate. They are quite close and they share resources for activities. Each Friday of camp - they have a social/square Dance bringing the groups together. It's great for the kids to have a chance to be on their own with just boys or Girls - and still have a chance for some social fun all together.
-Encouraging Goals-
The counselors do a great job of working with the campers to make goals and help them to execute and build the proper skills to advance them. The kids are allowed to choose whatever activities they want to do - and are helped to guide by staff to guide them on their daily plans
-Tripping-
Being that the camp is so close to some of the best Hiking/water/climbing areas Western NC has to offer - We were very impressed with the Skill of the staff they hire to lead our boys. Cameron was big on taking trips. They have excellent mountain biking, Canoe/kayaking, Hiking. and Mountain climbing all so close! - He has been on several overnight climbing trips and waterfall slides. He has been on the Green River Canoeing. Last year he had a goal of going on at least 3 off site trips which he achieved!
-Horseback RIding
- Unique Activities-
In addition to the standard activities that most of the area camps offer Mondamin and Green Cove also offer some more unique activities such as
- Nature Lab - (one of Cameron's Favorites- The staff are So knowledgeable!)
- Canoe building/woodworking - The boys learn how to steam and bend wood to make their own canoe - they typically have 2 boats at different stages going per session - in the end the boys that work on it can test it out on the lake!

Great Friendships
Cameron has made some great out of state friends that we have kept up with the last few years, And we have made trips to see them in the off season.
