Music Masters Collective and Afropop Worldwide are delighted to invite you to join us for three days and nights in celebration of the global music of Africa, which we treasure so deeply - and of a community of wonderful folks who love it as much as we do ~ including great friends of yours, that you have yet to meet! Please join us for this very exciting inaugural edition of Camp Afropop!
Let’s kick off the warm-weather season by sharing our love for the music of Africa and the African Diaspora ~ with nightly performances and dance parties, interactive workshops, and teaching clinics... all accompanied by plentiful jamming with the attendees (you!), acoustic and electric jam rooms for all to join in on with backline equipment provided, open mics and song-circles around the campfires. So, if you're a musician, bring your instrument and jam with the artists and our special guests. If you're simply a music lover, bring your good spirit… and your dancing shoes!
Your participation in Camp Afropop will raise vitally needed resources for Peabody Award-winning Afropop Worldwide to further our on air and online goals of reaching a larger multi-generational, multi-ethnic global online audience.
As you likely know, Afropop Worldwide is dedicated to promoting understanding and enjoyment of African and diaspora music and stories. First launched by NPR in 1988 and hosted by broadcast legend Georges Collinet from Cameroon, Afropop’s ground breaking work is now available on air and online through afropop.org, their weekly e-Newsletter and the new Planet Afropop podcast.
Participants at Afropop’s events become friends for life.
