At this event, Camille Sapara Barton will explore their book . Written specifically to center and hold the grief of BIPOC and queer readers, Tending Grief is an invitation to reconnect to what we’ve lost, to find community in our grief, and to tend to our own suffering for our individual and collective wellbeing. 

Camille will discuss the themes of the book, followed by an open Q&A with questions from the audience.

Please note: this event follows an event hosted by Exhale.Group CIC that is a closed session for QTIPOC, as part of their Third Place project. Attendance to the closed session must be booked directly through Exhale. We ask that you don’t arrive at Transmission before 2:10pm in order to allow the closed session the space to run its full course. 

About Tending Grief 

Tending Grief : Embodied Rituals for Holding Our Sorrow and Growing Cultures of Care in Community explores the many forms of collective grief that we experience and the benefit of being with grief in community so we can reduce isolation, build trust, clarify what we care about and move towards this together. The book speaks to the ways that BIPOC and queer readers disproportionately experience unique constellations of loss.

About Camille Sapara Barton

Camille Sapara Barton is a writer, consultant, embodiment facilitator and movement artist that supports people to flow through transitions. Their work aims to create relational wellbeing by cultivating connection to the body, care practices, grief and imagination. Camille supports organisations to increase resilience and reduce stress, while navigating change. They also offer trauma informed facilitation and consultancy to support cultural workers, funders and those working with socially engaged topics.

Camille is the author of Tending Grief: Embodied Rituals for Holding Our Sorrow and Growing Cultures of Care in Community (2024). Based in Amsterdam, they designed and directed MA Ecologies of Transformation (2021 - 2023) which explored how embodiment and socially engaged art making can create change through the body, into the wider world.
