Cambridge Arts Festival 2025: Creative Contemporary Dance

Dance can be an amazing tool to take into your everyday life. It can support you when you need to refocus at work or prepare yourself for a difficult day ahead. Just get up, put your favourite tune on and dance!

This two-hour workshop will encourage moving with ease, personal expression and joyful creativity. We will draw on dance techniques, as well as explore our individual ways of moving. Guided by Bar and Jenna, our playful exploration will inspire confidence and challenge pre-conceptions of form within Contemporary Dance.

We'll start with a guided warm-up that includes movement games and simple fun repetitive movement. We’ll then learn a phrase of movement, followed by a short break. In the second half, we’ll lead an improvisation exploring movement texture and quality. Finally, we’ll cool down with a stretch and a chat.
