Calton Hill Archaeology Project Walk & Talk on Calton Hill

Join a walk and talk on Calton Hill, hosted by Headland Archaeology’s Community Archaeologist, Jessica Lowther. Participants will explore the archaeological potential of the landscape through an exploration of the known history of Calton Hill and its relationship to the history and archaeology of wider Edinburgh.

We we introduce some of the skills archaeologists use to assess the archaeological potential of a site, involving background research, and the Scottish archaeological research frameworks, which detail what we already know about archaeological periods and areas in Scotland, and highlight areas and questions still yet to answer.

The walk and talk will start at the Portuguese Cannon on Calton Hill.
