The event is open to anyone over the age of 7, (adult must be present for anyone under the age of 16), to adult, who wishes to participate and has their own supplies and easels.
Artists may use any medium, but must paint in the plein air tradition.
Canvases must be blank, and design work cannot begin prior to the 9 am horn.
EVENT RULES
On-Site Registration, Check-In, Judging & Exhibit area - Located near parking lot by pavilions in area #3. See Map.
REGISTRATION: Artists up to 18 are free, Amateur Category $10, Pro Category $15
Registration starts on March 1 in person at Lanza Gallery & Art Supplies in downtown High Springs or online at lanzagallery.com/classesworkshops. (Online registration will add $1.50 Paypal fee to each entry.) Deadline for online pre-registration is Friday, April 10th at 5pm. On site registration is available beginning at 9am EST and ends promptly at 9:45am EST on Saturday, April 11th. We advise you to early register online or in person at the gallery before the actual event.
CHECK-IN - Sign in. Blank substrates, canvases, panels, will be stamped at this time
BOUNDARIES: The geographic boundaries of Quick Draw is O’Leno State park in and around the Santa Fe River area.
SET UP: Artists may choose their site and set up their equipment before the competition officially begins at 10am. (We encourage that you set up early enough so as not to stress and have fun).
BEGIN: At 10am, Horn Sounds, begin painting at your location.
END: Horn Sounds. Brushes down, stop painting promptly at 12:00pm, bring your completed artwork to designated check in, for exhibit and sale (use your own easel), where it will be judged by the Santa Fe Plein Air Paintout Competition Judge. The awards ceremony will be around 12:30pm.
EXHIBIT AND JUDGING: All artists bring their completed artworks, along with their easels, to the designated “gallery” Area close to the parking lot. Judging begins at 12:15pm, with prizes awarded at 12:45pm. All artworks must remain until the exhibit concludes at 1pm. All artworks and easels must be picked up by 2pm. Lanza Gallery & Event Staff are not responsible for any equipment or artworks left after 2pm. There is no extended exhibit of Quick Draw artwork.

Amateur Category Gift Card $35 - This category’s winner will have an opportunity to hang their finished piece in our Santa Fe Plein Air Paintout Exhibit, Saturday, April 18 from 5 - 8pm at Lanza Gallery & Art Supplies.
Pro Category Gift Card $75 - The Pro Category to prize will include an invitation to participate in Lanza Gallery & Art Supplies’s next years plein air event Santa Fe Plein Air Paintout.
