Re:Master plays on the double meaning of “re:”—both “regarding” and “again.” The title suggests a contemporary response to a masterwork while also implying the act of revisiting, reworking, and re-authoring it.Re:Master invites artists to use a well-known artwork as a starting point—not to recreate it, but to respond to it. A famous painting (or other medium) becomes a muse, a reference, or a jumping-off point for something entirely new.
Some works may feel like a clear nod to art history; others may stretch the connection in unexpected ways. Together, the exhibition celebrates how timeless images continue to spark fresh ideas, new perspectives, and contemporary voices.
The originals still matter, but this is about what happens next.
