Household Hazardous Waste, Appliances, & Electronics recycling eventCity of Battle Creek neighbors are invited to join others throughout Calhoun County for a county-wide Household Hazardous Waste, Appliances, & Electronics recycling event!
*This event is open to all neighbors living within Calhoun County.*
This event will take place at Ketchum Field - located at 1203 E. North St., Albion.
The event will run from noon-5:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026.

✅ Accepted Electronic Items: Audio-visual equipment (including DVD players, gaming consoles, projectors, stereo equipment, VHS players), cameras, Christmas lights, computers (including Chromebooks, desktop computers, laptops), computer accessories (including keyboards, mice, scanners, speakers), displays (including LCD and CRT computer monitors), electronic toys, lead-acid batteries (including car, boat, riding lawnmower), mobile devices (including cell phones, e-readers, iPads, iPods, MP3 players, tablets), networking equipment (including routers, servers, switches), printers (including copy machines, desktop printers, fax machines, floor copiers, scanners), power tools (including their rechargeable batteries), small appliances (including blenders, microwaves, mixers, toasters, vacuums), televisions (including LCD, plasma, projection, tube), wires/cords from electronic devices

✅ Accepted Scrap Metal Items: Bike frames, dishwashers, dryers, lawn mowers (remove fuel), metal doors, metal fencing, metal patio furniture, metal pipes, metal railings, rims (no tires), sheet metal, stoves, washers

❌ Appliance Items with Freon will NOT be accepted at this event, including: AC units, dehumidifiers, freezers, mini-fridges, refrigerators, water coolers

✅ Accepted HHW Items: Acids, aerosol cans, antifreeze, bases, chlorophenols, cyanide, fire extinguishers, flammable solids/liquids, Fluorescent light bulbs, fuels (in fuel cans), gas cylinders (NO foam insulation), household batteries, household cleaners, isocyanates, lighters, lead, medications, mercury, motor oil, oil-based paint, oil filters, oxidizers, PCB and non-PCB lamp ballasts, peroxides, pesticides, propane cylinders, self-defense spray, self-heating solids, sharps (inside rigid, puncture-resistant container with lid), solvents, toxic inorganics/organics, water-reactives
❌ HHW Items NOT Accepted: Ammunitions, biologically-active material, explosives, home-use insulation spraying cylinders, latex paint, radioactive material (includes smoke detectors), school chemicals, weapons
❌ HHW collections DO NOT include garbage/trash, tires, yard waste, construction/demolition waste, appliances, or industrial/business-generated waste. These items are not defined as household hazardous waste.
✅ Helpful HHW Collection Tips:
- Please separate paint from the rest of your items and pack your items carefully, so they do not spill while in transport.
- Use of tarps, lining cardboard boxes with plastic, or using leak-proof containers for transporting your items is recommended.
- Please label all items that are not in their original packaging.
- You may be asked to park and wait if you want any gas cans returned.
