Once again, the 3rd Tuesday of the month is upon us, which means it's time to learn something new and connect with up-and-coming and established songwriters and artists alike at Canada's largest independent songwriters' group: The Calgary Songsmiths! Join us at Calgary's best-kept secret for original music!
Topic (7:00 PM): Join us for the final installment of our Summer School series with our very own Troy Kokol, who will be walking us through the last chapter of the songwriting exercise we started back in May.
If you missed the previous sessions, no worries! We’ll do a quick review, dive into the nuts and bolts of piecing our songwriting building blocks together, and go over polishing those rough edges. We'll also talk about how to continue incorporating a word cloud and related phrases into your song to craft something relatable and memorable. Whether you're continuing your project or starting fresh, come be a part of this free learning session. See you there!
Homework (optional):
In June, Troy got us building lines and phrases based on a single word or phrase, alongside the cadence and melody we created. So, for Summer School's final class:
Take your ONE descriptive word or phrase (like our "earthquake") and build out your chorus to solidify your message.
Once you've established the foundation of your song, start strategizing the remainder of the track—and be sure to add DETAILS using the word cloud you've created!
