A classic, local challenge, in West Yorkshire, the Calderdale Way is a 50-mile / 80km route, taking in the stunning scenery surrounding iconic towns and villages such as Hebden Bridge and Cragg Vale. We will cross various hills and moorland, descend into picturesque valleys, and pass through historic villages. With reservoirs, waterfalls, extensive views, and stoney outcrops we will have plenty to observe enroute. This route showcases all the hidden gems that Calderale has to offer.
With plenty undulation (the entire route has an elevation of approx. 8500ft / 2590m) this is no easy walk, but will be an incredibly rewarding challenge.

😁We at Abigail's Trails are incredibly excited to be offering a 2 day guided event to cover this infamous long distance route, with barbecue food provided at Hebden Bridge campsite (New Delight Inn), as our half way point. Camping⛺️ accommodation* is available (see notes further down).
1️⃣Only available for one day or not sure you have the ability to do the full challenge? A single day option is also available at a reduced price of £35
for either Saturday or Sunday. Just select either day when completing your booking. Please arrange you own transport.
🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️The Calderdale Way will be split into 2 days, of approx. 25 miles walking each day.1️⃣ We will begin the first day from Halifax, heading in a clockwise direction, through Greetland, over Norland Moor, dropping down into beautiful Cragg Vale, before coming up onto Withins Moor. We'll pass Withins Clough reservoir before heading down Todmorden. We'll climb up again and head over to Blackshaw Head beofre finally dropping down to New Delight (which will probably be an absolutely delightful sight)! 2️⃣On the second day, we will get back on the Calderdale Way and head over to Heptonstall before descending into Midgehole, up through Pecket Well onto Wadsworth Moor, over to Warley Moor and skirting round the outskirts of Halifax before returning to our starting point.
👌This is a fully guided event; each walk will be led by qualified, experienced, local Mountain Leaders, who will support you along the way. As with all our guided walks, this event is designed to be friendly, relaxed and fun walking experience. You will, however, need a good base level of fitness, as this is a strenuous, hilly route on uneven footpaths and sometimes boggy terrain. Expect to be walking for 12 hours each day.
Accompanied children aged 12+ are welcome to attend, but must be strong walkers and supervised at all times.
