CAGES: Addiction Awareness Through Art
About this Event
Powerful expressions of resilience, recovery, and reflections of the complex realities of substance use, mental health, adn the strength of the human spirit. Exhibit will run at The Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre November 20, 2026 through January 16, 2027. Opening reception date to be determined.
We are actively looking for local artists with lived experience to submit their art to the exhibit, drop off and submissions will be the first week of October, 2026 (exact dates to be determined). All mediums of art (paintings, drawings, sculptures, photography, poetry, etc.) will be accepted. In addition to submitting art, artists will be required to complete a submission form, which provides various consents to Medicine Hat Drug Coalition and Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre, title of piece, and if willing additional information providing context to your piece.
*Please note we will do our best to display all art submitted, however due to space limitations please understand that not all pieces may be displayed. Due to the location and partnerships of this exhibit we will be unable to display any art that contains illicit language (swears/derogatory language), drug paraphernalia, or overtly disturbing images, final decisions regarding any such art is at the discretion of Medicine Hat Drug Coalition and TREX.
*The Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre may also frame art for purposes of display at their discretion
