FREE Manga Workshop with Cartoonist and Film Maker Josh Hicks

Age recommended 12+ (accompanied by an adult) | 60 minutes 

Create your own manga! 

Join Cardiff Animation Festival with local cartoonist and animator Josh Hicks who will share the skills needed to create your very own unique characters and manga comic! Throughout the workshop you will learn all about the variety of styles seen in this much beloved Japanese artform.

All materials will be provided and the workshop is open to all skill levels.

A Letter To Momo

5.30pm-7.30pm

The last time Momo saw her father, they had a fight. Now all she has left to remember him by is an incomplete letter penned with the words "Dear Momo," but nothing more.

Moving with her mother to the remote Japanese island of Shio, Momo soon discovers three Yokai living in her attic, a trio of mischievous spirit creatures that only she can see and who create mayhem in the tiny seaside community as she tries desperately to keep them hidden. But these funny monsters have a serious side and may hold the key to helping Momo discover what her father had been trying to tell her.

This event is made possible due to Cardiff Animation Festival's collaboration with New Chitose Animation Festival in Japan. If you love all things animation, keep an eye out for our regular Caerphilly Animation Nights, an exciting evening of great animation from around the world. We’ll be sharing some of the best animated short films from the global animation festival circuit and watch independent animation on the big screen and meet like-minded people. ​
