The Cabrillo Whalewatch program is a collaboration sponsored by both Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and ACS-LA to train volunteers (college age and up) as naturalists to accompany whale watching adventures on boats departing from local landings. Naturalists are trained to educate the public about the whales, dolphins, and marine life that live off our coast. Naturalists also may be given the opportunity to make presentations in classrooms and to groups.Training classes begin yearly on the first Tuesday of October at 7pm at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium’s John M. Olguin Auditorium and continue every Tuesday through March. From April through Sept, classes slow down to once or twice a month. The classes are approximately two hours in duration and are free. No prior experience is necessary, all training will be provided. No need to sign up, just show up either the first or second Tuesday of the program to see if it’s for you and to register!
