About this Event
Founded in 1996, Girls on the Run International is a nonprofit that has served 2 million + girls across North America. Children today are exposed to longstanding gender stereotypes, societal obstacles and cultural challenges that can be detrimental to their emotional and physical health. Their program helps girls recognize their potential and rise above limiting gender expectations. Girls on the Run programs are about so much more than running – they make an impact at a critical age when confidence and physical activity decline. To read more, visit their website.
NOTE: You do not have to identify as a girl or woman to volunteer, ALL are welcome.
Some possible tasks for this event include: craft station assistance, check-in and registration, being a course cheerleader, water station for the runners, finish line support, passing out refreshments and much more.
You will need to fill out a seperate form after signing up here. There will be more information on this in a follow-up email after you reserve your spot.
Transportation will be provided. Meet at the front of Mrak Hall (side facing Mrak Circle) no later than 6:50 AM. It is important to make sure you give yourself enough time to arrive to Mrak Hall by 6:50 at the latest so that you have time to complete paperwork and so we can depart by 7:00 to get to the event. Breakfast-y snacks will be provided, but we recommend you bring your own food and water as well. Close-toed shoes, pants, and sun protection are all recommended.
