The organisers of CAA-UK 2025 would like to invite papers and posters for the 2025 meeting, to be held at the Department of Archaeology and McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge, on the 9th and 10th of December 2025.
The use of quantitative methods and computer applications in heritage is an ever-changing discipline, with new software becoming available and new processes being created every day. We would like to invite the submission of papers and posters related to the general topics of quantitative methods and computer applications in archaeology and heritage. We aim in particular to make the conference a welcoming place for postgraduate students and early career researchers to present their research.
While in person attendance is strongly encouraged, the conference will be held in hybrid format.
Papers:
Speakers will be allocated a maximum of 20 minutes for presentations. To apply and present a paper send a title and 300 word abstract to [email protected] by 29th September 2025.
Posters:
For the poster submission there are two categories – both will be displayed for the duration of the conference in the conference common spaces:
1. Full poster – traditional format. To apply and present a poster, send a title and a 300 word abstract to [email protected] by 29th September 2025.
2. A story through an image – choose/create an image that conveys an idea (or more) about your work, your interest, your engagement in digital archaeology or heritage and send it, with a tile and caption with credits, to enter a digital image competition that will be held during the conference. To apply, send your expression of interest with a tentative title to [email protected] by 29th September 2025. The image – which must be your own work – will be printed by the conference organisers in advance of the conference (submission date TBC) and will need to be of sufficiently high-resolution to be reproduced at A4 size with no loss of resolution (300dpi minimum, 210mm x 297mm or 2480 x 3508 pixels). The preferred format will be TIFF or PNG.
Masters Award
There is a Masters award of £100 for those presenting their Masters’ Thesis/Dissertation. If you would like to be considered for the award, please flag when sending your abstract.
Workshops
We will be offering two parallel workshops on the morning of the 9th December from 11:00-12:30, before the start of the conference. These are:
Workshop 1: Introduction to Bayesian statistics
Workshop 2: Introduction to Arches
These are free to attend, and you will be able to sign up as part of the registration process.
Registration
Registration will open shortly. To help with planning, conference registration fees will be as follows: £60 full fee, £37 concession, £10 online only. The registration fee will include lunch on 9th December, tea/coffee on both days, and an evening drinks reception on 9th December.
