In-Person Registration for the California Truth & Healing Council Quarterly Meeting in Sacramento
About this Event

Join the California Truth & Healing Council in November for the Final Quarterly Meeting in Sacramento! All convenings of the Council are open to the general public; however, we will prioritize participation of local Tribes and local California Native Americans during the meeting.

Quarterly Meetings are intended to be a facilitated space for California Native Americans to talk, process and heal while also providing an opportunity for the Council to hear presentations of historical findings, evidence, outcomes and experiences of local California Native Americans.

For background, the Council was created by Governor Newsom via Executive Order N-15-19 which is commonly referred to as the “Governor’s Apology.” The purpose of the Council is to examine the historical record and clarify the nature, causes and extent of State sanctioned depredations and prejudicial policies committed during the early decades of California’s statehood, and make recommendations to meaningfully address the historical trauma and ongoing issues caused by these early actions. You can find more information about the Council on the CTHC website and the Governor’s Office of Tribal Affairs YouTube page.

Testimony provided at Quarterly Meetings will be recorded and will inform the Council’s Report and recommendations that will come out of this process. This meeting will be filmed by a documentarian who we have partnered with to create a film that will coincide with the issuance of the Report (watch the sizzle reel here).

This page will be updated as we finalize the meeting locations and agenda. This meeting will be fully in-person with no hybrid option - the meeting will be filmed/recorded.
