Join the Blacksburg Young Professionals for a spooktacular Halloween Mixer on Wednesday, October 28th. Hosted by the Blacksburg Museum & Cultural Foundation, come out and network with other young professionals and see the museum's featured Halloween-themed exhibit—The Art of Goodbye and shop museum merch at Vaugh & Black Co.
The Art of Goodbye explores the ways in which mourning and death rituals have evolved through the Colonial, Victorian, and Modern eras. We will be exhibiting a range of artifacts, from local gravestone rubbings, hair jewelry, and mourning attire to items from the McCoy Funeral Home private collection.
At 7:30 pm there will be a Haunted History Tour through Downtown Blacksburg, and the first six (6) people to sign up will have their tour fee covered. For all others, the price of the Haunted History Tour is $25. On this 60–90-minute tour, renowned ghost tour guide T.J. Prosalenti will take you to five locations – The Thomas-Conner House, Blacksburg Elementary (1934-1964), The Lyric Theatre, Stroubles Creek near the 5 Chimneys House, and the Alexander Black House. The stories at each stop will range from 5-10 minutes in length.
