BYOBoat Kayak Adventure - Blackwater/Lake Norris - Intermediate Level
Advertisement
This is a BYOB intermediate-level kayak run (bring your own boat).
This run includes a short, but sometimes adventurous, mile of a winding creek that opens up to beautiful Lake Norris. The lake is lined with gorgeous cypress trees that we kayak among.

Location: Blackwater Creek to Lake Norris
24542 Blackwater Creek Rd, Eustis, FL
Date: July 11th 2026
Time: 8am until 11:00ish
***********
Approximate Time On Water: 2.5ish hours
Difficulty Level: Beginner to Intermediate (see description below)
Bathrooms: NO
Boat Rentals Available: NO
Optional Picnic: No, but we'll head to Tony's Pizza and Subs in Eustis after!
Fees: None
Where to meet: You'll park in a large grassy area. You won't be able to miss us!
Hosts: Jody and Mary
*******
The creek portion of the run occasionally requires porting your boat. Be prepared, just in case. This means you should wear shoes that won't get sucked into sand (not flipflops), and have the ability to port your boat with help, if needed.
The creek section is shaded, but the lake section is in full sun. The reward is absolutely stunning views on the lake.
Some experience is helpful here, but no need to be an expert kayaker for this adventure! There is no way to get lost here, so you can go at your own pace and stay with the group or explore on your own.
Don't hesitate to contact Jody or Mary with questions!

What to bring:
Anything you need to be comfortable on the water
A water bottle (I suggest a reusable water bottle, as they are less likely to fall out of the kayak and become litter)
Wear clothes that can get wet. We don't expect you will fall out of your boat, but it's always possible and we may have to port boats in the creek section.
Wear water shoes rather than flipflops. It's unlikely that you'll need to get out of the boat, but occasionally, we need to pull boats over a downed tree in very shallow water. Flip flops tend to get lost or sucked into sand/mud.
A way to protect your phone, if you are going to use it for pictures on the water. Always assume there is a possibility of your phone getting wet.
PFD (personal floatation device) as required by Florida statute
Sunscreen, hat, sun shirt, and anything else you need to be comfortable on the water.
