It’s time to say goodbye to our butterflies!
Join us as we celebrate the close of another season in the Butterfly Haven and send our remaining Monarch butterflies on their way. Museum staff will carefully collect the Monarchs from the Butterfly Haven and bring them to the Conservation Lawn, where guests can watch as each butterfly is tagged and released to begin its journey toward Mexico.
Monarch Tagging & Releases
Join us on the Conservation Lawn to observe Monarch tagging and releases at:
10:00 a.m.
11:00 a.m.
Throughout the event, stop by our Butterfly Biofacts and Pollinator Activities tables to learn more about butterflies, pollinators, and the important roles they play in our ecosystems.
Activity tables will be available from 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Become an Official Butterfly Wrangler!
Want to do more than watch? This year, a limited number of guests can take part in a special hands-on Butterfly Wrangler experience.
Participants will help Museum staff:
Determine whether a Monarch is male or female
Measure the butterfly
Assist with its release
Each participant will also receive a Monarch trading card and a certificate naming them an Official Butterfly Wrangler.
Butterfly Wrangler Experience Pricing
Members: $25
Non-Members: $30
Space is limited to 20 participants.
Come celebrate the final flutter of the season and help us wish our Monarchs a safe journey south!
Purchase Ticket for the tagging activity at the link in this event! All other activities and viewing of tagging included in museum admission or membership.
