By Storm -Budapesten is bemutatkozik az Injury Reserve tagok új projektje.
Az Injury Reserve utódzenekaraként létrejött By Storm új lemezével veszi be a Turbina Kulturális Központot április 16-án. A Ritchie With és Parker Corey alkotta duó a napokban megjelent My Ghosts Go Ghost lemezbemutató turnéjával érkezik hozzánk.
Az Injury Reserve kísérleti raptrió Phoenixben alakult és eredetileg Ritchie With, Stepa J. Groggs rapperek és Parker Corey producer alkotta a csapatot. A Live From The Dentist (2015) és a Floss (2016) című mixtape-jeik komoly underground visszhangot váltottak ki, ezt a figyelmet pedig 2019-ben megjelent, önmagukról elnevezett debütáló albumukkal (Injury Reserve) tovább növelték.
2020 júniusában azonban a zenekar lendületét megtörte Groggs tragikus halála. Az ezután megjelenő, By the Time I Get to Phoenix album nagyrészt már Groggs halála előtt elkészült, az ő közreműködéseivel. Nemrég azonban úgy döntöttek, hogy annak érdekében, hogy mindhármuk egyediségét tiszteletben tartsák, nem írnak több dalt Injury Reserve név alatt: így Ritchie és Corey 2023 óta By Storm néven jelentet meg zenéket, mintegy továbbörökítve az Injury Reserve-en belüli közös munkájukat.
Az első By Storm néven kiadott daluk a Double Trio című kislemez volt, amely egyszerre tisztelgett korábbi zenekaruk öröksége előtt és nyitott új utat a jövő felé. A január 30-án kiadott My Ghosts Go Ghost ezt az ívet viszi tovább: szinte váratlanul érkezik, mégis maximális hatással. Az album felépítésében egyszerű, ugyanakkor elég sűrű ahhoz, hogy teljesen el lehessen merülni benne. Egy „vissza az alapokhoz” gondolat mentén készült („mi lenne, ha csinálnánk kilenc igazán erős dalt, és jó sorrendbe tennénk őket?”), és olyan témákat dolgoz fel, mint a veszteség, az apaság, a kapitalizmus, a tapasztalat súlya és a nehéz élményeken való továbblépés. Egyszerre debütáló album és egy utazás folytatása, amelyet RiTchie és Corey tíz évvel ezelőtt kezdtek el Phoenixben, amikor először készítettek együtt zenét. „Az elmúlt évtizedben felépítettük az identitásunkat, és minden lemez arról szólt, hogy egyre jobban megértsük, milyen zenekar akarunk lenni” - mondja Ritchie. „Ez nem változik.” A My Ghosts Go Ghost révén a régi rajongók hallhatják, ahogy Ritchie és Corey egyre kifinomultabb módon csiszolják a tudásukat, míg az új hallgatók profitálhatnak abból a tapasztalatból és gondolati tisztaságból, amely idáig vezette őket.

By Storm to make their Budapest debut - the new project by Injury Reserve members.
By Storm, the new project formed by members of Injury Reserve, will take over Turbina Cultural Cent aer on April 16 with their latest album. The duo of Ritchie With and Parker Corey arrives in Budapest as part of the album release tour for My Ghosts Go Ghost.
Injury Reserve was an experimental rap trio formed in Phoenix, originally consisting of rappers Ritchie With and Stepa J. Groggs, along with producer Parker Corey. Their mixtapes Live From The Dentist (2015) and Floss (2016) earned significant underground acclaim, which they further built upon with their self-titled debut album Injury Reserve, released in 2019.
In June 2020, the group’s momentum was tragically halted by the passing of Groggs. The album By the Time I Get to Phoenix, released afterward, had largely been completed prior to his death and includes his contributions. More recently, the members decided that in order to respect the unique identity of all three artists as Injury Reserve, they would no longer release music under that name. As a result, since 2023 Ritchie and Corey have continued their collaboration under the name By Storm, carrying forward the creative spirit of their work in Injury Reserve.
Their first release as By Storm was the single Double Trio, a track that both honored the legacy of their former group and opened a new path toward the future. Released on January 30, My Ghosts Go Ghost continues this trajectory - arriving almost unexpectedly, yet with maximum impact. The album is simple in its construction but dense enough to get lost in. Created with a back-to-basics mindset (“what if we make nine really strong songs and put them in a good order?”), it explores themes such as loss, fatherhood, capitalism, the weight of experience, and moving beyond difficult moments. It functions both as a debut album and as the continuation of a journey RiTchie and Corey began ten years ago in Phoenix, when they first started making music together. “Over the past decade, we’ve built our identity, and every secord has been about figuring out more of what kind of band we want to be,” says Ritchie. “That doesn’t change.” With My Ghosts Go Ghost, longtime fans can hear the duo refining their craft, while new listeners benefit from the experience and clarity that brought them to this point.
