Dear Club Member,
Attached are the current Grand Strand Running Club bylaws including the proposed amendments. In reviewing the bylaws, the GSRC Board felt there were some outdated portions along with a few other items to be considered for review by the Membership. Please take time to read through the document and make a note of any questions you have. Feel free to respond to this email or reach out to any Board Member with questions you have.
Per our Bylaws we will meet for a vote in a few weeks and take questions from the floor for discussion at that time. All members are encouraged to attend.
Bylaw Amendments:
A Bylaw Amendment can only be accomplished by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members in good standing present at the regular Club meeting in which the Amendment is considered;
All members must be notified at least ten (10) days prior to voting that a Bylaw amendment will be discussed and voted upon.
If the Bylaws are voted on and passed they will be in effect immediately and void any previous Club Bylaws.
Changes in order of appearance:
Addition of Lifetime membership for members in good standing who are age eighty (80) and above
Removal of the Club’s affiliation with the Myrtle Beach Marathon.
Change from Executive Committee to Board of Directors
Change Regular Club meetings from quarterly to monthly Social Gatherings.
Adding three (3) At Large Members to the Board of Directors.
Removal of designated Club Running Group representatives.
Removal of appointment of Advisory Committee.
Removal of Secretary’s responsibility for maintaining scrap book.
Board of Directors term reduced from 2-year term to 1-year term.
Filing a vacancy on the Board of Directors via majority vote of the remaining directors.
Changes to Bylaws to be effective immediately following a passing vote.
Removal of American Association of Running Clubs as a successor in case of dissolution; changing to successor running organization or designated non-profit.
