Do you think you have an interest in weaving? This 2-day class is designed to help you discover the magic, fun, and endless possibilities of weaving. Students will be introduced to some of the basics of weaving including weaving terminology as well as the parts of the loom and how they work. Students will learn to wind a warp, dress a loom, and read a weaving draft or pattern. The instructor will guide students through this process as they create a plain weave scarf. Fibers for this project will be selected either prior to class (with the instructor’s guidance) or on the first day of class.
Supplies to Bring:
- a lunch and a beverage. A refrigerator and microwave are available
- $10 packet fee and separate materials fee. Only cash or check accepted. The instructor will collect these amounts on the first day of class.

Linda Rouse has been involved in the fiber arts since childhood, beginning with crochet, embroidery and sewing. Later she added weaving, punch needle and rug hooking to her fiber arts skills, learning from fellow guild members Joy Thaler, Teresa Nieberding and Cindy Sturdevant. She has exhibited her works in galleries at the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati, The Cincinnati YWCA, The Clifton Cultural Arts Center, The Fitton Center for Creative Arts, and the Fairfield Community Arts Center. Linda recently returned from a trip to Sweden where she studied Swedish rag rug weaving with Marie Rolander. In addition to rag rug weaving, her current focus is on weaving hand-dyed silk scarves. Linda teaches beginning weaving classes at the Weavers Guild of Greater Cincinnati where she has been a member for over 15 years.
If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.
Depending on the for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.
Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at [email protected] for permission before registering any minor in a class.
Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
