Buzz & Blooms: Family Walk

Let's buzz on about blooms! Learn about native bees and pollinators from a bee expert and take a guided family-friendly neighbourhood walk, culminating in a pollinator-themed craft.

Participants will gather at Gallanough park then embark on a guided walking route through the neighbourhood, with a stop at Macdonald House. The walk will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about the local environment, native plants, pollinators, and the importance of supporting biodiversity within the community.

A bee expert will lead an educational talk focused on native bees, including their role in local ecosystems and ways residents can support pollinator habitat in their own yards and neighbourhoods. Following the nature walk, everyone will return to Gallanough Park, where a hands-on arts and crafts activity related to native plants and pollinators will be offered.

Event will run rain or shine - dress appropriately for the weather (rain jackets, umbrellas, etc., in the case of rain).

Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottle.

The Thornhill Sustainable Neighbourhood Action Program (SNAP) is a collaboration between Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the City of Vaughan. Through this program, the Thornhill Community Champion Network was established, and is made up of community members that actively promote and engage in environmental stewardship activities.
