Butterfly Release Days at Kelkenberg Farm

Come see the fields-a-flutter! Friday and Saturday August 7-8th you have the opportunity to join us in releasing hundreds of butterflies into the sunflowers!
Butterflies are now available to reserve!! To release your own butterfly into the fields, you must reserve a bug ($8). Each butterfly comes snuggled up in an envelope, and typically spends several minutes crawling around on you before hopping to a nearby sunflower.
You do NOT need your own butterfly to visit the farm these days, all regular farm activities will be available as well.
WHEN: 🦋 Butterfly Release Day is Friday, August 7th and Saturday, August 9th. Butterflies can be released form from 11am-1pm each day. We will also begin both days with story time at 10:30am. In case of bad weather ⛈️, the rain date is Sunday, August 9th.
WHAT: Release a butterfly into our beautiful field of sunflowers 🌻! You will receive a butterfly snuggled up in an envelope ready to release into the wild, then watch flutter away! 🦋
WHY: We love (and need!) our pollinators here on the farm, so come help us release butterflies into the field to enjoy all of the beautiful sunflowers! This is a great opportunity to learn about pollinators and get a really cool photo op! 🦋🐝
Admission or a Season Pass is required to attend Butterfly Release Day, your butterfly reservation does not include admission. Admission tickets can be purchased in advance or at the farm the day of the event. Butterflies must be reserved prior to the event, by July 1st (limited amount available).
