With SB2, all renewal CCW holders are required to take 8 hours of training.
All initial CCW applicants are required to take 16 hours of training.
A.F.I. will be conducting both renewal and initial CCW trainings: however, you MUST be told by the issuing agency that you have passed the new, more extensive, SB2 background check prior to attending. You MUST also provide proof of such at the onset of the 1st class you attend.
We will be providing four 4 hour trainings per month, which we will be calling each particular 4 hour training “Pods 1-4.”
Two of the Pods, Pods 1 and 3, will be conducted on every 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. They will be held at the Chico Rod and Gun Club in upper Bidwell Park, Chico. Time will be 4:45-8:45.
All firearms brought to this facility WILL be unloaded, and stored in a soft or hard case. ANY loaded firearms brought into this facility will result with an immediate removal from the class without refunding your ticket.
You will need a minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition for 1 firearm that you will be training with, and at least 10 rounds of ammunition for each additional firearm(s) you are wishing to add or qualify with in order to have on your permit.
SB2 has also made it unlawful for you to possess a firearm that is not registered to you, therefor ALL firearms you will be putting on your permit MUST be registered in your name. This means spouses can NO LONGER share firearms between the two and have the same pistols on two separate CCW permits.
The Chico Rod and Gun Club also has a Max velocity of 1200 FPS for firearms and ammuntion. If your firearm(s) exceeds that threshold you CANNOT bring it to this class.
Renewal CCW holders can take either one of Pods 1 or 3, while initial applicants MUST attend BOTH.
Pods 2 and 4 will be taught at 2755 California Park Dr, Chico, 95928. These classes will follow each of the two Friday classes. Classes here will be from 5:30-9:30.
ALL CCW holders or applicants MUST take Pod 2, which is “Laws regulations and responsibilities of CCW”.
Only initial applicants are required to take Pod 4, which will be “Stop the bleed, Pre and Post Critical Incident Care, and other CCW topics”, however all CCW holders are encouraged to take at least the “Stop the Bleed course”.
ABSOLUTLY No Firearms are to be brought to the California Park Dr location. These are classes only and require no firearms.
SB2 has placed a huge requirement on instructors to teach required information as well as required hourly trainings, down to the minute. Failure to do so can result in criminal and civil penalties for instructors.
Therefor: YOU MUST BE EARLY OR ON TIME for each and every class. Failure to do so will result in you not being allowed to take that particular class and you WILL NOT be refunded.
You MUST provide proof of completing your CCW application and photo identification at the 1st class you attend.
You MUST also provide proof of signing up with Eventbrite for each and every class.
Drop ins will no longer be allowed.
