Come help us out at the sanctuary! 🐷
Spend the weekend with us at A Better Life Animal Sanctuary (ABLAS) out in Greenhills (just past York). This is a two day event, but feel free to just come for one of the days if you prefer.
Our aim for this busy bee is to get the rest of the shelter walls up in prep for winter, clean the animal enclosures and build a cat run extension! (plus of course spending some time with the animals and getting them used to human contact).
We will be doing manual labour and using power tools; No experience needed, just a can-do attitude. There are plenty of different type of jobs you can help with for anyone who wants to come up but isn't able to use power tools or do manual labour/heavy lifting etc. You are also of course allowed (& encouraged) to take as many breaks as you need!
Rough schedule below:
🌞 Saturday
- Arrive at the sanctuary by 11am
- Split into groups based on your chosen tasks & get briefed on what you'll be doing
- Sanctuary tour to meet the animals ~ 1-ish
- Communal Lunch
- Continue tasks
- Communal Dinner
🌞 Sunday:
- Breakfast
- Either continue tasks from Sat or get briefed on new tasks
- Assist with tasks
- Communal Lunch
- Finish up around 4pm

- Shelter Walls (power tools & lifting)
- Building Cat Run (")
- Cleaning Animal Enclosures (manual labour but no power tools)
- Food Prep (indoors, helping prep communal meals & cleaning up kitchen)
There are a few beds available in the house to stay over, plus some floor space for mattresses and plenty of space for tents cars & vans of course!
We will make a group chat closer to the date to arrange food, carpooling etc.
