Busking for Justice: String Theory
Meet this month’s featured performer: String Theory! They are a casual, Ithaca-based acoustic string band that brings together talented musicians from all across the Finger Lakes. Drawing on bluegrass, Old Time, Canadian and Celtic fiddling traditions, folk music, swing, and even classical repertoire, String Theory creates music that is both deeply rooted and full of joyful surprises.
The ensemble features:
Ariana Kim – Grammy-nominated violinist and Cornell University faculty member
Tim Ball – Regional American/Celtic fiddler and guitarist
Rick Manning – Fiddle and mandolin player rooted in bluegrass and swing
Tom Hodgson – Multi-instrumentalist and contributor to local Finger Lakes acoustic ensembles
Dave Davies – Veteran swing and contra dance musician
Their repertoire seamlessly bridges Bach and other classical favorites with traditional fiddle tunes, roots music, bluegrass, and swing.

Admission is free; donations are encouraged.

All proceeds support immigrants and families impacted by detention and deportation.
