About this Event
The Job Forum of San Francisco (thejobforum.org) invites you to our free
Business Veterans Career Advisory Event
Wednesday, January 15 at 4 pm Pacific Time on Zoom
Calling all job-hunting active military and transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses, The Job Forum invites you to attend a special event for job hunters who are or were in the military. The Job Forum has gathered an expert panel of advisors who work in business who want to meet and talk with you and describe job openings at their companies.
The event will start with a short panel discussion followed by breakout rooms. You will have the chance to choose a breakout room where you can interact with company managers to learn about their open job roles, ask questions, and connect directly! Our job and career connector events are designed to help job hunters like you, and they function similarly to a virtual career fair.
Breakout Rooms - hosted by:
- Alaska Airlines
- UCSF
- Insperity
- TopBloc / Workday
and more to come!*
*companies are subject to change without notice
You’ll have the opportunity to visit up to 2 breakout rooms, where you can meet folks from hiring companies. You’ll learn more about their culture, what they are looking for in new hires -- and what current positions are available.
When you sign up, you’ll be asked two questions:
1. Pick a company you would like to meet with during this event. Choose from our list of sponsoring companies or check out their job listings below. You will be sent to 2 rooms (one at random).
2. What is your career path (sales, media, creative analytics, etc…) This will help us match you with the employers looking for your skills.
Plus…when you sign up for this event and attend, you will also get a chance to hear from industry experts about job searching and hiring in this virtual world.
The Job Forum is a free service for transitioning service members, who may be active, as well as in the Reserves and National Guard and International Guard and those may be former veterans or in school via the GI Bill. We provide job search expertise and network contacts to civilian companies via a large network of managers who volunteer from great companies. We serve most military discharges although we are not able to provide legal or medical advice at The Job Forum. This includes managers with affiliations at Alaska Airlines. PWC, UCSF Medical Center, and more.
Our volunteers will tap into our network of over 200 companies with managers who volunteer with The Job Forum - and may add their contacts as well to help you to get informational and/or job interviews. We will have Veterans - and those skilled in working with Veterans - to advise, answer questions, offer referrals, and help you translate your experience to make a next career move!
Meeting process:
1. There will be a summary of action steps with job search advice and ideas you can put to good use immediately to help you optimize your job search.
2. There will be breakout room sessions to immediately focus on the jobs and companies you want to meet as your next career step.
Topics to be covered:
1. Your Networking priorities: Talking with you, together we will identify networking priorities
2. Job Forum referrals: Identify with help from The Job Forum how to meet top employers and be seriously considered for open roles
3. Skills Translation: How to translate military skills and experiences into civilian job qualifications.
Come to The Job Forum’s Business Veterans Job and Career Accelerator Event:
You will meet advisors who know the value of your experience.
You will make new professional contacts.
We think you will be glad you joined us!
