Discover the essential skills required to live in comfort outdoors and learn self-reliance in the areas of fire, water and shelter. Held in our private ancient woodland near Bayford Herts this 1 day course introduces you to the essential bushcraft skills.
You will be taught how to provide for your immediate needs of fire water and shelter, and to exist in harmony with your surroundings. You’ll get lots of practical experience with various methods of fire lighting and the opportunity to build your own natural shelter within a beautiful mixed broadleaf and coniferous woodland. You will also learn to identify commonly found native and naturalised trees and plants, both useful, edible and toxic, and you will learn essential safe techniques and knife skills useful when setting up camp.
Taught in the relaxed environment of an expedition-style camp with tea and coffee on hand throughout the day, you can ask plenty of questions, receive tailored tips and guidance. The day runs 0930-1630 with a lunch break. Please bring a packed lunch and suitable outdoor clothing.

- Selection of tinder, kindling and main fuel
