About this Event
Experience the fascinating world of surgical history and medical innovation at the International Museum of Surgical Science (IMSS)! Embark on a guided tour through the IMSS’s unique exhibits and collection of medical artifacts, learning about the development of anesthesia, germ theory, and anatomical knowledge. Located in the historic Eleanor Robinson Countiss House, one of the few remaining lakefront mansions in Chicago, the tour will also feature an interactive demonstration of a leg amputation from the mid-1800s, with no anesthesia and no sterilization! After the tour, enjoy lunch at Orso’s Italian Restaurant in the nearby Old Town neighborhood. Please arrive by 8:15 a.m. for check in. Doors open at 8:00 a.m.
Registration is required. Price includes IMSS admission, transportation, and a three-course lunch.
