Herpetology: The Science of Reptiles and Amphibians
In this engaging class, students will dive into the fascinating world of reptiles and amphibians. Through hands-on activities, interactive lessons, and close observation, we’ll explore the unique life cycles, anatomy, behaviors, and habitats of creatures such as frogs, toads, salamanders, turtles, snakes, and lizards.
Students will learn how herpetologists (scientists who study reptiles and amphibians) conduct fieldwork and research, and they’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the critical role these animals play in ecosystems. We will also discuss conservation issues, adaptations for survival, and even some of the myths and cultural stories surrounding these cold-blooded animals.
