Heavy Hitters is worth the weight! From the minds of Eartha Kitten, Flan Dulcé, Lilith Von Tal, and Maze Cairo comes a show like none seen before in Detroit: a Fat Liberation and Empowerment burlesque and variety show!
If you’re ready to be done with unattainable beauty standards, if you’re ready to reject the systems that would have you believe you’re not enough or too much, if you’re ready to celebrate yourself and say ALL BODIES are worthy then come party with us! Heavy Hitters features a cast of burlesque, drag, and vocal performance stars from across the midwest who are sure to dazzle and delight!
You don’t have to be fat or plus sized to celebrate and engage in fat liberation! We all benefit from visible body diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility. However, this is a fat first space and we will be taking up SPACE, baby!
The producers of Heavy Hitters are making the theater space as intentionally accessible as possible. We will be utilizing a Care Team (highly visible safety minded people) throughout the duration of the show. Accessible seating areas featuring armless, 500lbs weight rated chairs spaced 12’’ apart but mobile will be available. There will be ramp access to the front door. Please note that there is street parking and lots adjacent to the building with a short walk from the lot to the front door. Let us know if there are other ways we can accommodate you!
