About this Event

Tour Stops Include:
  • Gilboa Methodist Church – One of the county’s oldest religious landmarks, rich in early settlement history.
  • Quaker Meadows Cemetery – Resting place of influential figures and home to centuries of local heritage.
  • Swan Ponds – A historic plantation property with ties to Burke County’s cultural evolution. Home of Waightstil Avery, North Carolina's first Attorney General.
  • Southern Railway Depot – A beautifully preserved depot showcasing the impact of rail travel on our region.
  • Alphonso Calhoun Avery House – Explore the stately home of a NC Supreme Court Justice and Civil War veteran.

To ensure the best experience at each site, our guests will be split between two motorcoaches and follow alternating routes throughout the day. This allows for smaller group sizes and more engaging interactions at each location.

Don’t miss this unforgettable journey into the heart of Burke County’s heritage! Secure your ticket now — spaces are limited.

Accessibility Notice:

Please note that due to the historic nature of the tour sites, some locations are not handicap accessible and may involve uneven terrain, stairs, or narrow entryways. We recommend wearing comfortable, closed toe shoes and contacting us in advance with any accessibility concerns.
