Bridging Tradition and Combat – An Exclusive 3-Hour Seminar with Sensei Richard Kay (7th Dan)
Attention Zen Do Kai Practitioners (1st Degree to 7th Degree) & Advanced Martial Artists
As high-ranking practitioners, we all understand that kata is not just a dance; it is a blueprint for survival. But how deeply have you deconstructed the classical movements you practice every week?
Kyoshi John Rizzo has arranged for his Sensei and mentor Sensei Richard Kay (7th Dan, Traditional Goju-Ryu Karate-do & Goshin-Jutsu Author) for an intensive, hands-on masterclass.
This seminar is specifically designed to dive deep into the roots of Goju-Ryu, which in turn is the root of Zen Do Kai.
Sensei Richard will strip away the sport and flash to focus entirely on decisive outcomes.
What We Will Cover Over 3 Intensive Hours:
• Foundations & History: An exploration of the lineage and history of Karate and Goju-Ryu.
• Multi-Use Mechanics: Deconstructing standard techniques—punches, kicks, blocks, and stances—to unlock their hidden variations.
• Classical Bunkai (Seiyunchin): A deep technical dive into the classical applications of the Seiyunchin kata.
• Combative Applications: Translating 1–2 key Bunkai sequences from Seiyunchin directly into highly effective, real-world combative techniques built to work under survival stress.
• Interactive Q&A: A concluding open floor to ask questions, pressure-test concepts, and tap into Sensei Richard's decades of operational and tactical knowledge.
Why You Need to Be in the Room
Sensei Richard Kay isn’t just a high-ranking traditionalist; he is a published author on tactical combat mechanics, defensive tactics, and personal security. His approach to Goshin-Jutsu (self-protection) strips away aesthetics and focuses solely on outcomes.
If you are looking to enrich your current ranking, refine your understanding of kata applications, and add battle-tested tools to your martial toolbox, this room is where you belong.
