Step inside our stunning Victorian building for a guided tour that brings the past to life. Hear from Lucinda Matthews-Jones (Liverpool John Moores University) as she uncovers the hidden world of settler bedrooms and the fascinating domestic life of settlement dwellings like Oxford House.
Lucie Matthews-Jones has been writing and researching about settlement houses like Oxford House for 15 years. She is based at Liverpool John Moores University, where she is a Reader in Victorian History. Her work has appeared in journals such as Victorian Studies, the Historical Journal, Cultural and Social History, and the Journal of Victorian Culture. She is currently witing her book Settling: The Making of the British Settlement Movement, 1880–1920. She is looking forward to sharing her bedroom titbits with you in February!
